At a glance
Read This Before You Book Anything.
A stay is repeated practice, a handoff and the habits you keep afterward. The pages below take each piece in turn and compare it with the other ways owners train a dog.
How a stay unfolds
A Stay, Stage by Stage
Programs differ, but many follow this order. A trainer will adjust it for your dog, so use it to decide what to ask about.
- First days
Settling in
The dog learns a new place, new smells and a daily schedule. Sessions stay short while a trainer watches how the dog copes with heat, noise and strangers.
- Week one
Foundations
Name response, sit, down, settling on a mat and loose leash steps get daily repetition indoors and in quiet outdoor spots, usually early when it is cooler.
- Week two
Distractions
Practice moves to busier places with traffic, other dogs at a distance and food on the ground. Recall and calm waiting get extra attention.
- Weeks two to three
Real-world trips
Outings to sidewalks, shaded parks and stores show whether skills hold up away from the training space.
- Final days
Handoff
You practice every cue, ask your questions and take home a written plan for the first weeks.
Come to practice, not to watch. Ask for the plan in writing, ask when a follow-up should happen and ask what to do if an old habit returns.

Behind the guide
Meant to inform, never to pressure.
A stay is a big decision for a dog and its people, yet most pages about it aim to sell. This one aims to explain how a stay runs, what it typically costs and which questions to ask.
Each community page adds local facts such as roads, parks and the weather, taken from public sources like Wikipedia and Lee County. The site has no reviews, rankings or advertising.
About this guide →Service areas
Eight Lee County Communities.
Each page covers one community: its main roads, where dogs walk and what the climate and housing mean for a stay.
Patience pays
Small wins, repeated daily.
A program is mostly short practice, rest and encouragement. These frames capture the everyday moments that build habits.

Good questions
Before you begin.
What does board and train cost near Fort Myers?

Is there a form to fill out here?
No. This site takes no requests.
How long does a program last?
Two to three weeks is common, though some run shorter or longer.
Will my dog be fully trained afterward?
Nobody can promise a finished dog. Habits last only if the household practices them.
What questions belong on my list?
Ask about the daily schedule, where your dog sleeps, the storm plan, methods and the handoff.
Are some dogs better off with lessons?
Very anxious or unwell dogs often are. Your veterinarian and a trainer can help you decide.
